After closing on Westfield back in October 2007, both Margaret and I have been quite adept a new skills that neither of us ever imagined we would need. To warn off the potential home-buyer who intends to fix up an otherwise troubled home, here's some of the things we had to do... - Treat water damage (and remove mold) under drywall
- Run 9 new electrical branch circuits to power new kitchen (240v and 120v)
- Install 26 new recessed lights (Kitchen, dining room, study)
- Install an Insteon home automation system to control interior and exterior lights
- Replace burnt out 500 Watt under water pool light
- Remove old kitchen canbinets
- Remove a walk-in Pantry in the kitchen
- Reinstall kitchen cabinets
- Custom build new countertops from MDF and laminate
- Move drainage plumbing from one wall to another
- Install a 20 point wired and wireless ethernet network
- Run 4 new ethernet cables and terminate
- Run 3 new satellite feed
- Run one new telephone line
- Paint Kitchen, Dining Room, Study, Master BR, 3 Kids Bedrooms, Kids Bathroom, Powder Room, 4 exterior doors, garage entry door (plus assortment of doors, windows, etc.)
- Stain a complete staircase including treads, newel posts and hand rails
- Install new baseboard in laundry room
- Install picture paneling in Dining room
- Wire in-ceiling speakers in Kitchen, Dining Room and Study and install speakers
- Run speaker cable from basement to pool area
- Install new switch to underwater pool light
- Remove, paint and reinstall 3 bookcases
- Move alarm system
- Replaced two rails on fence
- Replaced 2 broken globes on pool lighting
- Cleaned all the gutters (from 5 years of filth!)
- Install temporarykitchen pantry shelving
Through contractors we have also: - Repaired and replaced two roof segments
- Replace Dryvit on driveway light posts and old window opening
- Tiled laundry room and powder room
- Built and installed new staircase
- Moved a door 18 inches to the right
- Moved a window in the kitchen
- Removed arborvite obstructing kitchen view
- Installed Brazillian Teak Hardwood floors in most of house
- Fixed broken pool pump
- Move propane gas feed to new stove location
- Plumb new sink and dishwasher
